Make full songs with vocals, on your own computer

Describe a song in a few words, or leave it to chance: Song Maker writes the lyrics and makes the music, singing included. It's free, with no account and no limits, and your songs stay on your computer.

Download

Mac

  • An Apple chip (M1 or later)
  • macOS 14 or later
  • 16 GB of memory
  • 20 GB of free space

About 35 seconds a song on an M3 Pro (estimated); earlier chips take longer

Download for Mac

Version 0.1.1 · 142 MB

This early version isn't approved by Apple yet, so the first time, macOS stops it: open System Settings › Privacy & Security, choose Open Anyway, then open Song Maker again.

Windows

  • An NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics card or newer, with 8 GB of its own memory
  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • 20 GB of free space

5–20 seconds a song, depending on the card (measured on rented NVIDIA cards)

Download for Windows

Version 0.1.1 · 141 MB

If Windows says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.

Not yet: Macs with Intel chips, PCs without an NVIDIA card, and Linux. With less memory than listed, it may still work, more slowly; we haven't tested that.

How it works

  1. Set up once

The first time, Song Maker downloads what it needs to make music, about 11 GB. After that, it works without the internet.

  2. Describe your song

A few words, like “a happy summer pop song about a road trip”, or nothing for a surprise. Use your own lyrics or no singing, and pick a length.

  3. Keep it

Play it, save it as MP3 or WAV, or make another take. Every song stays in the Song Maker folder in your Music folder.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes: no account, no limits, no ads and no watermark. It's a free app from Hub Nexus.

Can I use the songs I make?

Your songs are yours to use: the app claims nothing and adds no watermark. Its music models are MIT-licensed, but their makers haven't said what music they learned from, so we can't promise a song is free of other people's rights.

Does anything leave my computer?

Your descriptions, lyrics and songs never do. Setting up downloads the app's parts once, and the sites they come from see your computer's internet address, as with any download (which sites).

Which languages can it sing in?

Name the language in your description, like “a Dutch song about the sea”, and it sings in that. Otherwise it follows the language you write in where it can tell, and your computer's language where it can't.

How long are the songs?

From about 1 to 4 minutes: pick a length, or let the song decide.

How long does setting up take?

About 15 minutes on a 100 Mbps connection, for the 11 GB download. It happens once.
